AC Medical Supplies
Explanations about faked e-mail
messages
Some of e-mail messages you may receive are faked as coming from
acms@acmedi.com , i.e., from our e-mail or as from AC Medical.
We do not send unsollicited mail: these messages are faked and dangerous.
The text of a typical virus infected e-mail is as follows:
"From: staff@acmedi.com<staff@acmedi.com> Dear
user, the management of Acmedi.com mailing system wants
to let you know that, Some of our clients complained
about the spam (negative e-mail content) outgoing from your
e-mail account. Probably, you have been infected by a proxy-relay
trojan server. In order to keep your computer safe, follow
the instructions. Advanced details can be found in attached file.
For security purposes the attached file is password protected. Password
is "57181". The Management, The Acmedi.com team
http://www.acmedi.com"
Do not open any of these files. They are neither from us, nor
from your e-mail provider, nor from the FBI. Of course, we do not
even have an e-mail address such as <staff@acmedi.com>.
Even if our e-mail address would appear correct, please do not
open any attachments at this time.
Another version of an internet virus may come from the message, supposedly
from "Acms" of from various phony addresses at ....@acmedi.com (e.g.,
"webmaster@acmedi.com")and offer a "Client Newsletter" or inform you that
your "account" has been opened, approved, or closed or request some private
information from you: do not open this message, it is definitely not from
us.
A more recent version of these virus loaded e-mails comes from a fake
address identical to our e-mail address: (acms@acmedi.com) and
claims there is an important attachment, that you should open. We
never e-mail anyone unsollicited attachments unless we alert the recipient
in another earlier e-mail that we would. Please do not open
any attachments to these fraudulent and dangerous e-mails.
The addresses loaded with viruses also come from "administrator@acmedi.com
" or "support@acmedi.com" or "admin@acmedi.com" and
may request your private information or mislead you to click on to some
virus loaded website.. These are all fraudulent fakes. Please
do not open any attachments to these fraudulent and dangerous e-mails.
We also warn you about the fraudulent e-mail, supposedly from "mail@acmedi.com
" reporting in the subject heading that "your password has
been successfully updated." In fact, we have no "membership,"
no "passwords," etc.: we have never had any. We only sell medical
supplies.
The most recent one (June 2005) has the folowing text that misleads
you to open a virus loaded attachment:
Dear Acmedi Member, We have temporarily
suspended your email account .................. (or your
membership)
This might be due to either of the following
reasons:
1. A recent change in your personal information
(i.e. change of address).
2. Submiting invalid information during
the initial sign up process.
3. An innability to accurately verify your
selected option of subscription due to an internal error
within our processors.
See the details to reactivate your Acmedi
account.
Sincerely,The Acmedi Support Team (From:
support@acmedi.com<support@acmedi.com>)
Some more recent variations on these messages also contain viruses,
in particular, the following:
Dear user of acmedi.com,
We have received reports that your e-mail
account has been used to send a huge amount of spam messages during this
week. Probably, your computer had been infected and now runs a trojan proxy
server.
Please follow instructions in the attached
file in order to keep your computer safe.
Sincerely yours,
acmedi.com technical support team.
We do not have any "acmedi.com technical support
team" and we do not mail any such such
messages.
SPAM / POSSIBLE FRAUD WARNING:
You may receive spam style e-mail messages, faked as originating
from our own address acms@acmedi.com (in reality, the crooks send them
also to us, at our real address) such as the following, highlighted in
light pink (received by us on July 14, 2006):
